Colorado conservative radio host who opposed vaccines dies of COVID-19

A conservative radio host in Colorado who opposed coronavirus vaccines, face masks and other pandemic precautions has died from COVID-19.  

Bob Enyart’s death was confirmed by his “Real Science Radio” co-host Fred Williams on social media earlier this week. 

“It comes with an extremely heavy heart that my close friend and co-host of Real Science Radio has lost his battle with Covid,” Williams shared on Facebook. “Bob Enyart was one of the smartest, and without question, the wisest person I’ve known.” 

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed to USA TODAY that they were notified of Enyart’s death but declined to provide additional information.  

Enyart, who was also a pastor at Denver Bible Church, was an opponent of COVID-19 vaccines and other precautions amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

His congregation and Community Baptist Church in Brighton, Colorado, successfully sued the state last year over pandemic restrictions. A judge ruled that religious groups in the state did not have to implement some capacity limits or require worshippers to wear masks.  

Enyart also encouraged listeners of his radio show not to get vaccinated against COVID-19. According to a post shared last month on the website for his show, he and his wife, Cheryl Enyart, were not getting vaccinated because the inoculations were tested “on the cells of aborted babies.” 

The post says while it’s not “inherently sinful” to get an “immorally-developed” vaccine “we urge everyone to boycott Pfizer, Moderna and the Johnson to further increase social tension and put pressure on the child killers.” 

Neither Pfizer nor Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine involves cells derived from aborted fetal tissue, but cells originally derived from the tissue were used in early laboratory testing.  

Cell lines originating from aborted fetal tissue were used in the development and production of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. However, religious leaders of several groups have approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine for worshippers. 

The Denver Bible Church confirmed earlier this month on Facebook that Bob and Cheryl Enyart were hospitalized with COVID-19 infections.

Enyart began broadcasting approximately 30 years ago, according to multiple reports. He has garnered attention for a range of arguments and segments, including repeatedly saying that people who seek abortions should be sentenced to the death penalty.

On a former TV show, the host also read the obituaries of people who died from AIDS while playing the band Queen’s song “Another One Bites the Dust.”  

USA TODAY has reached out to host website KGOV.com for comment. 

Enyart is not the only conservative radio host who vocally opposed vaccinations to die from COVID-19 in recent weeks. Marc Bernier, a talk radio host in Daytona Beach, died last month after a three-week battle with COVID-19. Phil Valentine, a radio host from Tennessee who was a vaccine skeptic until he was hospitalized with COVID-19, also died last month.
